Known for their premium sound experiences, what's next for Sonos?

Sonos has developed a range of audio products for the best listening experience, differientiating themselves from other audio corporations with its multi-room products. They have been gradually expanding into bringing more transportable products.

Key driving questions from Sonos' design values

To ensure that the project is also in alignment with Sonos' brand, these main questions were created from their design statement to drive the initial development process.

Broadening Sonos' current customer base

Building on top of the current user groups, the Solutionist was added. These young professionals have a limited space in their lives and are in need of a product that works well with their actively changing lifestyles.

Prototyping for dynamic movements to emulate sound waves

Sonos' sound visualization is integrated throughout their brand experience. To continue its visual brand language, we played around with creating different flexibility and the shapes it could create with low-fi prototypes.

Tying together Sonos UX hardware interactions

Aligned Tune's interaction with Sonos UX system for continuity and assembled the components layout to keep it minimal but visually recognizable.

Advanced sound technology

Through research of materiality, there are currently emerging technology in flexible circuit boards and small speakers to support this concept's plausibility.

Efficient packaging that showcases the product

Combining the current Sonos packaging as reference and the concepts from the inspiration, new packaging concepts were created. The packaging concept was chosen in consideration of space efficiency in shipping and protection of the product.

With Tune, creating a space to work and focus is easy. The exterior panel acts to denoise the distracting sounds coming towards you.
