Field Visit Research: UC Medical campus has diverse set of problems

WIth a diverse community of Medical students, health care workers, patients, families, and long term residents, UC medical campus lacks clear navigation, transportation options, and leisure areas.

Exploring personas to develop inclusive solutions

Three different personas were created to identify the different opportunity areas with the current medical campus. By having different personas to solve for, this requires the final hub system to have inclusive solutions that supports a community with a large range of residents coming by.

Polestar's brand value aligns closely with project's core identity

As the project developed and the design goals were solidified, the Polestar brand stood out with having similar brand values with the project's core identity of valuing the importance of sustainability, future focused, and safety for all. Thus, Polestar was chosen as the main brand for the hub system.

Scenario building to identify user touchpoint and overall system

Creating different storyboards for each user scenario helps identify key actions and touchpoints, which can serve as starting points for exploring various design solutions. Some experiences to consider would be booking a ride to ordering a meal ahead of time.

Information architecture draws out the main interactions for app prototype

Drawing from the storyboards and user scenarios, the main interactions that the PolestarO2 system would need to integrate were mapped out. The focus was on three key user groups: healthcare workers, recurring patients, and caregivers.

Exploring user flow solutions through low fidelity prototypes and sketches

The focus is on integrating Polestar's vehicle system visual elements into a medical campus navigation app while determining the most intuitive flow for users to easily digest and understand the navigation and booking information.

Seamless onboarding for newcomers

The onboarding process aligns with Polestar's visual elements while ensuring the app platform and its tabs are easy to understand. An initial walkthrough guide is provided for new patients and their families when they first arrive at the UC Medical Campus.

Streamlining doctor's visits for patients

PolestarO2 simplifies doctor visits for recurring patients by recognizing upcoming appointments and recommending the best transportation options. It ensures accurate navigation and helps patients arrive on time for every appointment.
