Investing is difficult to navigate as a beginner

Generation Z often lacks financial knowledge and follows cognitive biases due to the complexity of information overload and fear of risk. Thus, causing unhealthy investing behaviors or general disinterest from the lack of progress.

Opportunity to create enduring engagement in a financial app

From understanding the financial app landscape, there are pros and cons from American and Korean financial services. But both markets are lacking in creating a space for users to continually engage with their app in an effortless way.

Gaining primary insight on inaccessibility and lack of personal growth through user surveys and interviews

From the survey, individual users with varying levels of financial knowledge were interviewed to gain a more detailed understanding on the investing experience for MZ generation. Overall, they felt that stock related information is not accessible for beginners, negatively effects their mental health, and hard to see personal growth in investing.

Understanding the user and guiding ideation with HMW questions

Persona and broader problem statements was created from a collection of the student interview and survey insights to lead the ideation process and the 3 features we developed.

Creating a story around growth in financial knowledge

Starting from sketches to determine how to visually represent the forest metaphor as the user's stock portfolio. Then, the chosen solutions were put into visual prototypes to see how the information were be organized in the interface.

Visual guideline and information architecture

As the visuals and further screens were developed, a design guideline for the UI was created to follow for Evergrow. Additionally, the screen flow was selected and refined to solve the main opportunities identified initially from user research.
